The DaCCWA Feel Safe Scheme aims to make people feel safer in their own homes, especially anyone who has either become, or is at risk of becoming, a victim of crime and anti-social behaviour.

The Scheme is slowly being rolled out across Devon and Cornwall through DaCCWA’s network of Community Watch Offices based within local Police Stations and anyone can refer someone they believe would benefit from having small works done to their property to make it safer and more secure. Currently, the Scheme has funding to undertake referrals in the Truro, Torbay and Plymouth areas only. As we receive funding, we will be rolling this out across other parts of Devon and Cornwall as soon as we can.

All works are undertaken free of charge by insured, approved contractors and are funded by supporters of DaCCWA.

The kind of works the Scheme can provide:

• Fitting a door chain, spy hole or window lock
• Cutting back a hedge
• Putting a strong bolt on a gate
• Changing locks
• Mending a gate or fence

Although mainly small works, these can often be all it takes to help restore a person’s confidence and bring them peace of mind.

How to make a referral

All referrals need to be submitted by using one of the Referral Forms below, by contacting your local Neighbourhood Watch scheme or one of the DaCCWA Community Watch Offices. Please note, we are currently only able to undertake referrals in the Truro, Torbay and Plymouth areas until we receive further funding.

Please complete and send the relevant form to daccwa@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk. If there is a Watch Office local to you then the referral will be dealt with by our Feel Safe Scheme Co-ordinator within that team.

All referrals are reviewed by our DaCCWA Feel Safe Scheme team and the area co-ordinators will contact you for further information before contacting the person you have referred. Please note, not all referrals are successful and works will be dependent on a number of factors.
